[I was...] Very much enjoying the 2xCD early-solo retrospective, A Young Person's Guide to Mark McGuire (2011), of Emeralds (#2, 2010).
In addition to being Emeralds' guitarist, the guy puts out a ton of product - so there's plenty to collect here...
"Radio Flyer" from A Young Person's Guide to Mark McGuire (2011)
These first two examples are from Pocket Full of Rain (2009), a CDr or 2xCassette release. I believe YouTube user and video maker lifephaser is himself McGuire. If so, that film/music set-up was made by the artist - footage from the movie of the same name.
"The Marfa Lights" from A Young Person's Guide... (2011)
Named after the mysterious West Texas phenomenon, which is nice coming from a Cleveland boy!
"Explosion Alarm" from A Young Person's Guide... (2011)
Anything repetitive/looped, natural/organic, and/or skewed will make a perfect visual accompaniment.
There were a couple of more videos from that collection, but since then, McGuire's released another album of all new material... (What did I say about his output?) So let's switch streams to that.
"Get Lost" by Mark McGuire, from Get Lost (2011)
Official video filmed and edited by lifephaser (who now does appear to be McGuire himself).
"Alma" by Mark McGuire, from Get Lost (2011)
With vocals!!
Not only that, but another Emeralds member - synthesizer Steve Hauschildt - has released his own album, even more recently. As usual, Altered Zones is a good source of info. [And between writing that recently and posting today, Altered Zones has closed up shop.]
"Batteries May Drain" by Steve Hauschildt, from Tragedy & Geometry (2011)
These two are the teaser tracks, but there's a bunch of tunes from this album on YouTube, which can be a barometer of some kind - popularity, strong reactions, whatever.
"Already Replaced" by Steve Hauschildt, from Tragedy & Geometry (2011)
Mellowerer...
